Photographs

It wasn’t until this new century that digital photography became so ubiquitous.  Even with this technology, on a sailboat it would be impossible to download pictures under limited battery power.

The Sleavins carried film, sensitive to heat, and any time they had visitors, any exposed rolls of film would be sent home to be developed and stored.  Thus, we are fortunate to have some record of their incredible journey, of the joy they felt, and the love they had for one another.

All photographs taken in the third year of the Sleavin circumnavigation went down with the Melinda Lee.
